Dear Dhuni I do not agree with you that the problems that displacement causes are because of the government. Industry is very much part of it. The process of taking over land without people's consenty is only one part of it. But private industry wants it and tries to get land at a very low price and without encumbrances. That is the reason why it wants land to be bought by the Government. I have studied all displacement 1947-2000 in 12 states and realise that rehabilitation by private industry is worse than that by the government which itself is miserable. The very process of acquiring land has to be questioned. Walter
