I agree with you that when the Dalits want to be called by that name we have no right to protest against
their desire to assert their identity as oppressed peoples. Instead, this term should challenge all of us to
acknowledge our social guilt in this crime. We might not have done it personally but we are part of the social
system which continues this injustice. We should therefore use this opportunity to join together to work for
a more just society instead of objecting to their asserting their identity.
