Re: India's Railways: Bihar-Based & Bihar Biased
This kind of regional parochialism is not only wrong, it is not based
on facts either.

How many railway Zonal HQ's are there in Bihar / Jharkhand? Bengal has
two, Mumbai two, a comparatively small state like Orissa also has one:
but the combined Bihar and Jharkhand has just one. Much of the railway
lines of these two states are managed by railway zones which are HQed
outside the two states. Why should the people from these states not go
to other places which have the railway HQ with jurisdiction extending
over their own territory? Or these two states the colony of the rest
of India? Is there an apartheid policy which allows only one way
patriotism?

Does Ranchi or for that matter Patna have more Rajdhanis, Shatabdis or
any other high profile trains? An important town like Hazaribagh is
still not connected by railway. There are hardly any railway factories
in these Two states. Then on what basis do you say that railway
ministers from Bihar have been biased?

Look at finance ministry and telecom ministry. Both are headed by
politicians from Tamil Nadu. Do you know that 90% of mobiles sold in
India is manufactured in a small hub near Chennai? Are you aware of
the kind of tax breaks and other incentives, besides behind the scene
pressure put on the factory owners, to locate them there? Are you
aware that the document processing unit of the direct taxes deptt of
union finance ministry which was located at Hazaribagh by Yashwant
Sinha was shifted out from there by the regionally minded Chidambaram?
Do you recall that in spite of the hunger strike of Yashwant sinha,
the shifting was not stopped?

Are you aware that the ministry of information and broadcasting, has
still to allot a single proper doordarshan studio either to Patna or
to Ranchi or for that matter anywhere else in Bihar or Jharkhand? Be
aware that the Upgrah doordarshan kendra of Muzaffarpur set up by
George Fernandes was officially vandalised during the regime of Ajit
Panja who ordered the shifting of its equipment and staff to Calcutta
when he wanted a second studio there? Or the kind of pathetic
bureaucracy the proposed TV studio near Daltongunj in Palamau proposed
to be focussed on tribal culture has had to undergo? It has yet to
come up in spite of several years of plan at Dilli Darbar.

If you have guts, face these truths and then protest. Dont go by the
propaganda of the MNS goons that Biharis are looting jobs and spread
hatred.

Thanks

TV Sinha
