The 22nd SY is being organised by sristi with the help of nif, gian and other Honey Bee network partners from December 29, 2008 to January 3, 2009 in the karmabhoomi of Gandhi ji, Champaram district of Bihar, where he started the Satyagrah movement. This is also the birth place of Chanakya (Kautilya), the great statesman and economist) controversies apart). The shodhyatra will start from Motihari and conclude in Betiah. Our partner, Dr. Ambedkar Sansthan (AWCCDS), Siwan will be the hosts and local organizers.All the readers, their friends, and others interested in walking with us are welcome to join the 22nd Shodh yatra in Bihar. The idea is to learn from the wisdom of common people, their values, concerns and creativity. The cost of food and local travel is shared by all the participants @ Rs.200/- per day. Others who are interested but may not be able to pay up may also join and then their cost will be shared by other participants. Kindly Note the following 1. Bed Spreads and Mosquito net/repellent are to be carried during the yatra for personal use. 2. Towels, Tooth brush and paste, soaps, cloths for daily use, comfortable shoes/sandals so that you can walk the local areas without any inconvenience. 3. It might rain! Do not forget to carry your raincoat and/or umbrella. 4. Dish, bowl, spoon and glass one each for your personal use. 5. During the train journey (both to and fro), please bear your own food expenses. 6. Please be prepared to walk 15-20 kms daily during the seven days shodh yatra. 7. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be arranged by SRISTI. Since Shodh yatra is a voluntary activity, shodh yatris may also have to help the organizers in preparation of food and other arrangements if required. 8. Diary, pen and if you have a camera of your own,kindly carry it along. 9. Torch, candle, small lock and key, strings and clips to hang/dry cloths and your medicines are the other materials you may carry to avoid inconvenience. 10. Each individual should book his/her to and fro bus/train tickets on their own. 11. Shodh yatris will be provided simple meals for three times, accommodation in schools and other places in the villages, a vehicle to carry luggage. Thus, each participant is to contribute Rs 200/- per day to meet the expenses for the same. No body will be denied the opportunity to join the shodh yatra because of economic reasons. if some body can not afford, rest of the shodh yatris will share his/her cost. 12. Pickup/drop to/from any nearest point to Shodh yatra route may be arranged by the organizer upon request, the expense of which will be borne by the individual/group. The 22nd âœShodh Yatraâ, organised by Sristi will commence from December 29, 2008 to January 3, 2009. The yatra will start from Motihari and conclude in Bettiah.
The âœShodh Yatraâ is organized by Sristi, twice a year. The Shodh Yatris, walk around generally a distance of roughly 120-150 km or so in a span of seven to eight days. Dr. Ambedkar Sansthan (AWCCDS), Siwan will be the hosts and local organizers. Sristi ( www.sristi.org) is a developmental organisation setup to strengthen the creativity of grassroots inventors, innovators and ecopreneurs engaged in conserving biodiversity and developing eco-friendly solutions to local problems. Sristi, which means creation, was born in 1993 essentially to support the activities of the Honey Bee Network to respect, recognize and reward the creativity at grassroots. Based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Sristi (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies) is a registered charitable organization that is devoted to empowering the knowledge rich-economically poor people by adding value in their contemporary creativity as well as traditional knowledge. It has helped establish GIAN, NIF, MVIF and AASTIIK. Sristi was set up to provide organizational support to the HBN. The objectives were: systematically documenting, disseminating and developing grassroots green innovations, providing intellectual property rights protection to grassroots innovators, working on the in situ and ex situ conservation of local biodiversity, and providing venture support to grassroots innovators. Sristi manages the Honey Bee database of innovations, and supports the publication of the Networkâ™s newsletter in three languages, English, Hindi and Gujarati.
