Hello Every one, At the moment I am right at the spot where it all happened on Saturday.The clashes took place between the local Adibasi who are against the high-voltage power plant to be set up in their land and area and the followers of Ulgulan Manch leaders and activists and police force.Some of the leaders have been arrested for forcibly taking way some of the judicial properties from police station according to the police statement and due process of law was taking place.Their supporters were demanding that they should be released and were threatening to court mass arrests to force the authorities to release them. That's what they were trying to do on Saturday Obviously there must have been serious confrontation and both sides used force. It is difficult to tell who started first but at least one person has died from bullet injury and several more were injured including some police personnel who had injuries from traditional tribal weapon of arrows. The sad thing is that this has overshadowed the real problem of displacement and re settlement of poor Adibasi.I understand the Manch is influenced by various outfits who have really no interest in the plight of the poor Adibasi but to further their own agendas whatever they are on the backs of poor and deprived people. The govt. and the local administration should realise this and go to these poor and Innocent people and try to get the best possible deal for them from the business houses who are setting up these plants.They should fight for the long term sustenance and make them as part of the stake holders in the business with sense of ownership and partnership.This will reassure them and give them a sense of security. By doing this the govt can undercut the influence of different outfits involved and help the poor and deprived Adibasi. Dhuni ,DUMKA
