I am totally in agreement with Raju Charles, as I am sure the majority of the non-elite Indians are. I was one of those journalists totally opposed to V.P.Singh's style of functioning in the early years, but after his amazing stand against Advani's communal rath yatra, and the implementation of the Mandal Commission recommendations I was converted into an ardent admirer. Something I have never been ashamed of, as Singh was one of the very few politicians I have known who learnt from his mistakes and grew intellectually over the years. His death is a great loss to us. I am surprised at Mr Padhi, whoever he is, as I was in the Indian Express at the time and Arun Shourie left for a variety of reasons, of which V.P.Singh was definitely not one. Seema Mustafa
