After the Mumbai massacre there has been a lot of talk and discussions
on whether India should declare a war if Pakistan does not relent from
helping the jehadis in their country from waging war against India in
general and Hindus in particular. Fortunately for us the
international community has woken up to the realities of the situation
and is pursuading Pakistan government first to ban the fundamentalist
organisations within the country and then hand over the militants
still hiding in the country and their leaders to India for trial. But
the government in Pakistan are not in a mood to listen but instead are
crying for a confrontation with India. If God forbid a war is forced
upon us there is going to be largescale destruction of men and
property built up after years of hard labour by the people of either
countries. Then there is the threat of a nuclear war perhaps for the
first time in the modern era. It is the responsibility of the leaders
of both the countries to stop talking about a war. Apart from the
militant activity promoted the jehadis with or without the active
connivance of the Government in Pakistan, the two countries have
everything to gain being good neighbours. Will good sense prevail?
