Until recetly, inspit of my high educational background, I did not know many things about the basic tenets of Islam and Hinduism. I must thank many learned persons who contributed to this forum enriching my know how about the problems of India and Pakistan and in general the basic difference between Islamic thinking and the rest of the religions. It is clear that India , as a secular nation by its very origin , thought, and its assimilatory capacity to understand other faiths and way of life, has a great problem to solve or perish. There is no need to further the arguments why the Pakistan has been created and why this enemity between these two countries. With my little capacity to analyze, Islam and Hindu way of life can never reconcile. At personal level, it is possible that these people can live together as long as their religious fundamentalism is not allowed to flare up. So what are the options for India ? To day Pakistan is a reality. Bangladesh is a reality. India is ofcourse a reality as a shining example of exemplary tolerence. To me India should take the political path of Switzerland. All Indians must strive for a nation which is , in every respect secular. Religion would be a personal affair. The governence of the country would have nothing to do with any religion. An option may be given for people to leave the country if they do not wish to be a part of such a nation. India would have one law for every citizen. India would have no reservations of any kind on the basis of any factor. India would adopt English as its national language to remove the language bickerings. India would have nothing to do with those countries which are religion based. There is no other way for this poor India except to yield to the religious machinations and upheavels from within and outside. Prof. Kalluri S Rao __._,_.___
