i agree with devinder's view. it is not some ignoramus we are talking about here who indulged in some petty corruption but someone who knew what was going on, knew how to manage auditors, knew everything and took brazen advantage. and amassed thousands of hectares of land. i guess that is the good he did to rural masses, bought up their land and gave them some moeny. he is not some great chieftain who took the blame for what others in his company did. he confessed when left with no option. he and his ilk only show us just how corrupt in every way our system is and we should all be out there protesting against the government giving our hard earned money to save a corrupt man's empire. instead of cheering him on. this is the way people made harshad mehta a hero forgetting how many families were ruined because of him. shows how our moral standards have changed. all that matters is money, not how it was got. devinder sharma is right, those who directly or indirectly benefit from such system are teh ones who are defending him. we must be wary of such propaganda. anjali deshpande
