Dear Arpita, and others in the forum I read your article with much interest and was impressed by the statistical figures whatever their authenticity. I agree with you in theory and principle with whatever you have written but in practice and in real life where does it take us? All you are suggesting is basically copying ( aping) the westernised society. But then look at the figures of broken marriages, divorce rates / percentage of single parents etc not to mention the rate of paedophilia in the west ( I live in UK so I am living in a country with perhaps the youngest father in the world at 13 yrs of age from a girl of 15 yrs!!! I see and hear and read all about early sex education for children). I have a friend here in UK from India who is 25 years old. He did his MBA here and working here for now. He has enough opportunity to sleep around with his work mates mainly girls ! But guess what HE IS A VIRGIN ! What is the percentage of virgin boys /girls in India today at 20 years of age and 25 years of age.?? compared to 25 years ago??? Any one with statistics out there??? Some think to think about?? He never had sex education in his curricullum. I am convinced that early ( how early from the WHO? UN point of view ??? ) School sex education in the curricullum is not the answer. Parents / friends,community, media / internet and religion have all their own role to play and finally the individual mind set despite what is taught anywhere. Anyway good to have this topic on the forum and see what others have to comment. Keep the mind thinking the progressive way. Regards
