Dear Dr. Walter , Sir, I hope you recall the following two events where I got a lot of cooperation from you as a resource person and a leader in defining the land policy. One was a seminar sometime in 1994 when Prof. Mohanty, Prf BK Royburmam, Prof. Munda discussed the Bhuria committee. Another occassion was the seminar at JNU that I supported as regional coordinator of terre des hommes on the Land Acquisition Act 1998. The bill for 2007, I hear has been introduced in the parliament. I would like to request you to throw some llight on this as I have not been able to read carefully. It is important to protect ecologically sustainable habitats and livelihoods considering the following: - there is no guaruntee for sustainable supply of energy for fossil fuel based urban habitats
- there is a need to prepare for the end of petro-modern age
- there is indeed a threat on the livelihoods based on land ,water and forest
- increasing governments are giving up on land reforms for the sake of providing ownership to corporates
- mass resistence in Singur is an indicator of lack of trust in the capacity of petro-modern growth visions
- protection of ecologically sustainable livelihoods and habitats is a global imperative
- it is important to eleiminate fictitious usurious money through adoption of interfaith commons..please see the attached paper..
