Dear all concerned with education of the marginalised children in Jharkhand, We are pleased to invite you to a two day workshop on "Consultations and Network Building on Classroom Curriculum, Pluralism and Social Inclusion: Voices from the Margin" that is being organized by Deshkal Society in collaboration with UNICEF and in association with Prabhat Khabar at Ashoka Hotel, Duranda, Ranchi on 15 December and 16 December, 2008 from 9.30 am to 4..30 p.m. We are privileged to have the Prof. Stephen Marandi , the Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Jharkhand for the inaugural session held on 15 December 2008 at 9.30 am. He has kindly accepted our request for inaugurating the workshop. Mr.A. K. Basu, Chief Secretary, Government of Jharkhand has kindly agreed to be the Chief Guest. We have already requested Prof.Ram Dayal Munda for addressing the valedictory session. We would be honored, if you could accept our invitation for participating in the two day workshop as a key resource person. The broad objective of the two day workshop is to contribute to developing new tools, strategies and approaches to influence classroom curriculum, pedagogy, school management towards the development of inclusive classrooms, schools and systems, such that those currently marginalized are able to participate fully in the education – across the spectrum -- and access their constitutional right to education of an acceptable quality. The themes of the two day workshop is given below: · Practice of Classroom, Textbooks and Marginality · Classroom, Teacher and Marginality · Caste/Class, Ethnicity Classroom and Marginality · Home, Classroom and Children Here we would like share with you that the proposed workshop is part of our long term sustainable programme on Classroom Curriculum, Pluralism and Social Inclusion: Voices from the Margin. In this regard we are going to organise and facilitate this process in the seven states of regional capital and five regions of the India. These are as follows: Northern region (Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar and Rajasthan) Southern region (Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka) Eastern region (Orissa and Chhattisgarh) Western region (Maharashtra) North-East region (Assam, Meghalya and Manipur) In this workshop we are inviting you as potential stakeholders along with other stakeholders in Jharkhand for taking forward the agenda. We are inviting the representatives of SSA, JCERT, teacher training colleges, international agencies, department of education, etc. In this process, we are endeavoring to ensure collective participation of best practitioners, schoolteachers, trainers (DIET and independent) and pedagogic practitioners. We would be privileged if you could accept our invitation to participate in the workshop as a key resource person and contribute to the realization of the agenda of the workshop.
