I have read your both the volumes on 1857. You have really done a
wonderful job, though I do not accept a number of your formulations. I
have written a longish review article in Hindi, which will shortly appear
in a volume edited by Murli Manohar Prasad Singh.
You have rightly underlined that Sangh Parivar and its leaders have
nothing to do with India's freedom movement. Except for Dr. Hedgawar, no
one else from the Parivar participated in freedom movement. Even Hedgawar
was in it for a brief while. Though its support base is petty bourgeois,
the Parivar has always served the interests of the big bourgeoisie both
Indian and foreign. It has been trying its best to keep the Indian society
divided so that it does not stand up against exploitation and oppression.
Even a brief look at policies and programmes of BJP (earlier Jan
Sangh)will underline that it has never shown any interest in people's
economic well being. Prof. Jyotirmoy Sharma's writings bring out this fact
vividly.
