NATIONAL PLEDGE DAY ON 17TH JANUARY, 2009 (3rd Saturday)
Dear Friends,
It is a pleasure to inform you all that our team members and friends residing in different parts of India are taking oath and reading out the India's proposed national pledge on 17th January, 2009 (3rd Saturday) at about 10.00 a.m.
As a patriotic citizen of India the paragraph / pledge which would be read by all of our team members and friends across India on 17th January, 2009 at 10.00 a.m. is as follows :
PLEDGE
"We the people of India today do solemnly pledge ourselves to the service of our nation with honesty, sincerity and commitment; always keeping our nation's interest paramount in all that we think, do or say, for the greater glory of this land."
APPEAL Particularly as a member of the legal fraternity it is our personal appeal to all of you to whom we consider as a patriotic citizen of India to read out the abovementioned pledge / paragraph, irrespective of the place where ever we all may be there on 17th January,2009 at 10.00 a.m. either in English or in any other vernacular language for the greater glory of our mother land India.
We would also appeal to all our friends / supporters to make copies (translate if so required for semi literate individuals) and circulate amongst fellow citizens of this country to read out from the core of their heart on 17th January 2009 at 10.00 a.m..
It is for your kind information that our team has unanimously decided to read out the national pledge on the proposed national pledge day which would be on every third Saturday of a year. This year our team is organizing its 2nd pledge day function in different parts of India besides our central team which would assemble on 17th January, 2009, 09.30 a.m. at Hindi Bhawan, Rouse Avenue, ITO, New Delhi wherein distinguished guests and luminaries would attend the program.
Needless to say that we must not consider ourselves as a campaigner for the national pledge but as a patriotic citizen we must read out the pledge considering it as an oath for this nation. Lastly we will say officially India does not have its national pledge till date which the other advanced countries across the globe do have.
Thanking you Yours sincerely
(PRASANTA VARMA) Advocates, Supreme Court of India President, South Asian Foundation for Information (SAFI) A-2/62, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi.
