" cleaning septic tanks manually" is a paid job;if the district administration buy a machine, these people will be laid off.
We are cleaning our own toilet ourself. If the Government or Municipality is still using manually procedure, because of lack of funds etc., the scavengers are not forced to do. They are doing this because they are not able to get another employment.
It appears that Dalits , like Muslims, are too much depending on Socialism, which calls for 'redistribution of wealth' . Although there are some Govt. of India Charity for SC/ST like special recruitment drives for SC/ST - all can't benefit because their leaders are keeping creamy layers (whose income <= 4 Lakhs) as beneficiary for vote bank reasons.
So Dalits should stop blaming the district administration and quit the job. Who knows .. a Brahmin might be ready to do that manual scavenging job.
