India has lost its enviable culture about 1000 years ago. Since then it has been under the influence of one culture or the other. It allowed others to judge its merit . After Independence , suddenly a nation which has lost its provise to govern itself is vested with the responsibility of governing itself.This coupled with adult franchise gave illeterates a chance to get into power and divide the country on the basis of region , religion , caste, creed and language of course. I am a scientist myself(which can be seen from my qualifications below) with recognitions from various science academies of the country and other organizations. I am not a Bhatnagar awardee as I came from a family that does not even know that there is such a award. When I became mature with science as well as with the machinations of the senior scientists and politicians of the country, I was over aged for that award. But I became wiser and understood the Indian science. Indian science like any typical citizen is divided by all those factors mentioned above. We do not even know and do not wish to distinguish talent from show and rhetorics. You must belong to a particular community or region if you have to come up in science, mind you I am using the world only coming up not the quality. There is no quality or originality in science in the country, of course barring the patches of innate brilliance that is natural for any society. All the awards are farcical by and large and the science mafia has decided to get financial benefits out of the supposed brilliance. Even Vice chancellors are claiming the remuneration for their erstwhile Bhatnagar awards but they are anot willing to give it to retired persons.
