I wonder why there are increasing racist remarks and denial of these remarks around the name Chimpanzee/monkey/monkey god. Some points to ponder...
1. Today Sharpton and other civil rights activists blast New York Post cartoon cartoon linking stimulus bill to chimp. It drew fire from these civil rights activist say the drawing invokes historically racist images in suggesting an ape wrote President Barack Obama's economic stimulus package. http://www.nypost.com/delonas/delonas.htm
2. Indian cricket team denied that Harbhajan had not said monkey to the Australian cricketer Symond. Though action was taken against Harbhajan and later harbhajan apologized for his act. Some Hindu groups said Monkey is related to god in India so it is not a derogatory term on the contrary other Hindu groups protested against Australian paper Courier Mail published this picture of cricketer Andrew Symonds with his face superimposed on Lord Hanuman's body.
3. During American elections Hindu groups in USA urged US President Obama to accept the same Hanuman/Monkey god as a gift (which was termed derogatory in Australian cricket tournament, and many other places). US President Obama did not accept this gift. The same groups opened the US congress and US state house a with Hindu prayers in last few years. 4. In India Hindu groups encourages to donating Hanuman temple/ locates, etc amongst Adivasis/indigenous communities. "To facilitate the induction of tribal people into the Hindu fold, Hanuman statues and temples dedicated to Hanuman worship are being constructed across the State. Hanuman has in fact become the number one encroacher of government land," ..."The VHP has devised a clever way to spread Hindutva among the tribal people. Its argument is that the greatest follower of the "Aryan warrior" Rama was Hanuman, who was tribal; hence, the Adivasis are the original worshippers of Rama and, by derivation, Hindus. 4. Hindu groups protested against The Times of India in their Bangalore edition of 3rd February 09 denigrated Lord Sri Ram and Lord Hanuman/Monkey god in the form of Cartoon.
This cartoon says " another rescue mission in Lanka, no way ! last time I did that I got my tail burned"
