Dear Kalpana, Sincere sympathies. The loss of a student under such circumstances really hits at the soul. love, shiraz prabhu Prof. Kalluri S.Rao I keep hearing this kind of rhetorical arguments and appeals time and again. I have worked in a University system for 35 years. I have seen some of the demands made. I am totally for helping the down trodden to come up to a level in the society. While a nation should try to see that the basic needs of every citizen are provided by the system, the system should get back some thing from every one. If the argument is that what you have should be shared by everyone(including merit or talent whatever you wish to call) then it is equally silly. Quite often I see people with this kind of leftist arguments are doing more harm to poor and underprivileged people than good. It looks to me many left sloganists enjoy rich life disproportionate to their income. Every one should help the needy in every respect.But it may be difficult to switch positions overnight. KSR
