Dear Mr. Sinha, When I speak of living in peace with neighbour, it is not just an imagination. It is possible and it is a must today. This is in no way opposed to fundamentalism or terrorism in both countries. You can not stop terrorism or fundamentalism by threat or war. War is the easiest thing for a country and it does not give permanent solution while building peace and living in harmony leads to development of all. It is difficult and complicated. Our Governments that remain in power for 5 years sem to be more focused on their term rather than the permanent welfare measures of people at large. I am from a family with more than 70% of them all in Army. My father himself was in the Indo Pakistan war and others in other wars. I was broght up with high intensity of Patriotism in my heart. Just like my own family, I have undergone the agony and anguish every minute of the day and night, when our countries began war. I recall the days when the mortal remains of my relative was brought to us and the agony of the loss. The natural tendency is to retaliate and to go in fighting back. This is easy especially when we have more weapons. But ultimately what is the solution? War is not an entertainment. But it is so for some. They entertain at the expense of others. It is the case of every country that wages war with another country, when the war is with neighbours, the misery and the loss it brings in is much greater and lasting. Who gains? Who looses? When both Pakistan and India has people - every third person in each of our countries live below poverty line, just guess, what type of people propose war. Leaders of both these countries find an easy excuse in shirkng their responsibility towards the development of the people. WAR WAR... The more you cry, the less you are in touch with the poor! and take away the little crumbs from their mouth. The Peace we need to work is not just passivity... but constant and constructive plan to develop the poor. When many European countries began to live together and focus on devleoping people, these two neighbours continue to cheat you and me and the people at large, taking away the real issue. Go thruogh the dailies... these days. Any message comes about the rural development? Welfare of the poor? We have news about Taj Hotel, Satyam, share market and flight fares. Is this all our country? Soon we will have Republic day Tamasha. We are going to tell the world the security we have for our people We will have list of new tanks, neuclear war heads, Latest guns, war ships etc. And to entertain the crowd, we will have dance and singing from each country with forced smiles of young children. You will not find anywhere the details of How our country focuses on the security of 30% of the poor people below poverty line How we care for 70% of our people who live in villages. ( The real india is in Villages- Gandhi) How many rural schools were newlly built how many dispensaries were brought to the villages how many tribal huts got electricity in the past one year How many rural industries How many rural girl children got admission in the professional colleges Let those who speak of patriotism and love for India, open their mouth in favour of real India And prove their live basing on what they personally could offer for the country by serving the people in need, especialy to the vulnerable ones. This is true not only for Indians and Pakistanis but also for every country, rich and poor. For, most poor in every country continue to suffer under structural oppression rather than due to their inability. It is easy to enter war with anyone! But ler me repeat At whose cost? - Nithiya __._,_.___
