Dear Dr Isaacs, I have read your reply to Ahmed Khwaja. You have not minced words; you say things straight, you want the truth to be known even though it may be unpleasant. What you have said does seem to be at the basis of some of the terrorism prevalent today. I have a request - and a point to make. My request is that you give references to the teachings of the Holy Q'ran which you have mentioned in your reply. All the more so because they are fraught with serious consequences. It is necessary for us to verify whether the Quran has been rightly quoted and see the context in which those teachings have been given. When unpleasant things are said we need to be very sure of what is being said. Pointing a finger generally evokes counter finger-pointing and hence a negative reaction. The point I wish to make is this: truth must always be told, even when it is unpleasant. But truth must always be spoken with love as the Gospel teaches us in Eph 4.15, particularly when the truth is unpleasant. The spirit of love, when unpleasant truth is spoken, will be visible in a tone of sadness that accompanies it. It is as if one would be saying :"I really wish I did not have to say this, but the fact is ........" If we desire a good effect all finger pointing must be seen as motivated and accompanied by love. I am grateful to you for opening us up to some of the teachings of the Holy Q'ran. I do wish that what you say is not true; but if it is may God give all of us the wisdom to understand them the way He wants us to. Fr Ronnie Prabhu __._,_.___
