Dr A K Isaacs Yes, the DAV schools are affiliated to the CBSE. They teach mainstream science (Darwinian evolution, Big Bang, indestructibility of energy/matter, psycho-genetic basis of behaviour, Their students are well represented in the IITs, IIMs, IAS, etc. They in no way preach hate for other religions, dreams of converting the whole world to one particular belief system or stories of creation out of nothing by an extra-cosmic god who says "Be" and the cosmos comes into existence. The DAV schools attempt to inculcate in their students universally admired Indic values and practices such as those found in illumined teachings of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family), Advaita (Non-Dualism), Ekam Sat (One Existence but different approaches to the One), Chetna Vidnyaan or the Science of Consciousness, yoga, mind concentration, virtues of non-killing, the benefits of vegetarianism, etc. Now compare all this with the irrational dogmas preached by the madrassas. Creationist myths are exclusively found in dualistic Semitic teachings but in the monistic Vedic literature based on Absolute Consciousness and its manifested gradations, creation out of nothing by an anthropomorphic Personal god who has no causal connection with anything but who yet managed to create the cosmos out of nothing is looked upon with contempt as it is an irrational theory propounded by ignoramuses. Even science considers creationist myths harmful to human psychology and it has proven on the physical plane that creation out of nothing is a egregious superstition. The Indian Constitution is not founded on religious dogmas but stresses equality, cultivation of the scientific temper and human values (one which is freedom of religion and in this sense it is secular that it treats all religions equally unlike the barbaric treatment meted out to non-Muslims, apostates, atheists and free thinkers in Islamic theocracies). You have some weird notions of atheists who're certainly on firmer ground than superstitious theists. The madrassas are sought to be brought into the national mainstream of education since their teachings are harmful to the well being of society and to the madrassa products themselves as an education that's based itself on puerile, fictional beliefs and hallucinatory assumptions divides humanity into the so-called believers and the so-called "non-believers" with the latter being viewed as objects of hate who're fit to be persecuted, subjugated, taxed (Jizziya) and killed in keeping with the scriptural teachings But affiliating these dungeons of superstition and sectarianism to the CBSE won't solve the problem unless the Government reviews and edits the barbaric religious teachings and blind beliefs that're taught in such seminaries. The CBSE tag will only embolden these fanatics to peddle their discriminatory and fictitious teachings with greater legitimacy without fear of being pulled up. Best Regards, Dr A K Isaacs Roopa Esther Sharma Dear Mr. Alam, I agree with you completely. "If Madrassas have the capacity to deliver CBSE syllabus why ANYONE (mine) should have problems with that?" Why is the Hindu majority of this state bent upon high handedness with the minorities? In my earlier comment I had spoken about the community leaders that tend to communalise politics. WHen will Hindus learn some sophistication of letting poeple live as they are or they want to. D. THakur , you must apply facts to generalisations that Madrassas are belting only Quran based syllabus to their children. Indian Muslims are probably the sharpest in the whole of the Muslim world and they would certainly like to give competitive education to their children.THe days of Sanskrit shlokas and mere Quran in schools are over since very long.
