The S P tenency and Chota Nagpur tenency acts were meant to protect the lands of the tribal people from non tribals but unfortunately they have not really stopped them.If you look around town and bazar areas and along any roads and highways, most of the lands of tribal people have been taken over by non tibals by one way or other.On the other hand the tribals are not able to use their lands as security to raise funds for business and other purposes.Perhaps its about time that both acts need to be looked in to impartially and see if there is a need for some modification./improvement for the benifit and development of tribal people. dhuni soren
