Maybe an understanding of the colonial history of middle-east and the dispossession of the palestinians by the Israeli state may help you understand Hamas and its evolution. It seems that you are based in USA and therefore see only the hogwash the American media swills out to fool the citizens of America. Only two countries/people in the world wholeheartedly support what Israel is doing in Gaza- Israel itself and USA. And what has happened in Gaza/palestine has much to do with the radicalisation of a section of Muslims in middle east.The same way US use of the Islamic fundamentalists against Russia with help of Pakistan ISI led to the birth of Al-Qaeda and the rest of the so called Islamic radicals, including the ones fighting in Kashmir.
Reading a little bit of history might help you in understanding all this - and the reasons for radicalisation of some Muslim youth. It is not a religion that is to blame. If someone in my family would have been killed in Gujarat by Modi's goons who were let scotfree, I would try my best to get back if I felt justice was not being done.
So dear friend, read some history - find out who are the greatest terrorists in this world (if terrorism means killing innocent civilians to meet ones political end), and refrain from demonising one religion, and then building your political understanding on that. Also, all the leaders and so called intellectuals of the right understand all this very well, and it is a measure of their cynicism and political thievery that they still peddle these lines- both in India and in USA.
If you want I can send you links for Americans political writes who have written quite well about all this- and mind you- these are not the usual suspects from the left, but respected academics solidly in the center. For instance one place to start will be www.juancole.con, a blog by a University of Michigan Professor.
If you are based in India and read Indian media, I assume you have a strong selective reading habit .
