What is the harm in celebrating 'Valentine day' ?
1. There is no scientific or any cultural basis to this day. 2. As the so called priest Valentine himself was involved in the anti-national acts during his time, then how one can get any benefit by celebrating the day in his name? 3. On this day young girls and boys come together at pubs, sea shores, hotels, colleges etc and indulge in indecent acts. A common person finds it difficult to even go around such places at this time. Some organisations even organize such programs where the young boys and girls can stay together. 4. The young students of schools and colleges are falling prey to such culture and express their love to each other by way of exchanging greeting cards. But actually speaking it is not love but only an attraction to the opposite sex at a tender and immature age. 5. There are several examples of such mentally ill patients available with Psychiatrists who have stuck to their mental illness by 'proposing' on 'Valentine Day'. 6. It has long lasting bad effect on any youth's career and also on the society. 7. The seeds are planted on this day to grow up and cause the destabilization of society through fall in morality. 8. We can know about direct attacks from outside enemy but cultural invasion is very difficult to detect and even some times difficult to defend ourselves from its evil results. 9. Cultural derailment always takes the society towards destruction which is being experienced in our Bharat (India) today. 10. Many western countries do not celebrate this day. 'Calendar of Roman Catholic Saints' was prepared in 1969. 'Valentine's Day' was omitted from the general Roman calendar. If this is so then why should we value this day in our Hindustan? 11. The western custom put the parents in 'old age home' and then celebrate showy 'Mother's Day' and 'Father's Day' for one day! Same is the case of 'Valentine day'. Is the real love showy and limited to just one day? In Indian culture we have numbers of festivals to express love towards each other and also it is part of our lifestyle.
I too wonder - who was this gentleman Mr. Valentine ? Never heard of him in our Ramayana and Mahabharata. All I heard that some Saint Thomas entered from Kerala sea side around 50 A.D. and started converting people. After that some convent schools are named after some other saints. But never had seen any St. Valentine's convent school.
Hindus in India usually celebrate Children's day, teacher's day, Labor's day - but usually don't celebrate Father's day and Mother's day like USA. So how come a lover's day, named after a foreign saint, burrowed in the Indian teenagers mind and overshadowed all other days. Lord Krishna was designated the greatest lover of India. There is even a Hindi Song - "O Krishna, You are the greatest lover in this world" . Had this been named as Krishna Day - there would probably no objection.
But, lovers are voters too. In USA young voters installed a president. In India, which political party would dare to go against them (youth) in an election year and wish to commit suicide. Perhaps no one. So freedom must prevail over traditions. The mightly Rak Thackery backed out.
Many argue, women are equal to men. But , asked, why women tennis players have to play 3 sets and men have to play 5 sets. Why there is no singles match between man and woman - no one could answer. Obviously, there is no comparison between apples and oranges - god has given men strength and compensated women with politeness and softness. Women get flattered by praise while men will suspect the intention. Women , when given helm, don't apply their own mind under pressure. Jayalalitha took on Shankaracharya, Vaiko and Karunanidhi. Mayawati-Mulayam. Uma Bharati-BJP and Benezeer-Nawaz Sharif. Above all you can see Ms. Sonia Gandhi's congress. Used CBI as an instrument to blackmail and bailout Mulayam and Mayawati.
The frequency of male voices wouldn't be different than that of female voices; another apple and orange. How it will sound when the voices are swapped ?
Women are blessed with motherhood and usually stay around kids about 24 hours. So, the mothers are usually the first teacher of every kid.
Also, India's climate is not an extreme cold climate, where consuming liquor or wine would be a necessity.
So, obviously the pub going loose women are not 'women' technically but definitely girl friends of some boy friends. Such girl friends and boy friends will part their ways and get married to some one else and erase their past pub records. But, wine is not a simple weakness. Clever pub going spouse will probably continue drinking even after marriage. The kid will watch parents drinking and will start too. So an all American culture is waiting for Indians.
In America, 1st and 2nd grade kids exchange friendly valentine cards and a symbol of love and friendship. Such love above from lust or any kind of objectionable attraction. For grown ups in USA, it has a different meaning and they will be in serious party mood.
Christians are officially allowed for valentine day because saint is theirs; they are excited about the over excitement of Hindus. They see the helplessness of Sangh parivar in policing their own kids. Pastors and missionaries , who are in charge of conversion must be smiling and believing that a cultural invasion is a better idea than an religious invasion. RSS/VHP are virtually powerless , when comes to moral policing. Muslims tradition doesn't permit their women to go loose unless it is Jihad;men may. Now our Sanatanis don't have any such restrictions. Mr. Pramod Muthalik is no doubt a logical thinker. He doesn't mind to be around married couples; objects to the girl friend and boy friend relationship. Hence vowed to get ( the boy-girl friends) them married;landed in jail. For him a date means only calendar date. Probably never heard about the other meaning of 'date' . in America, there used to be program 'The Bachelor' , where a handsome bachelor will choose a single girl for date among a few equally good looking girls.
So over all, a very thought provoking V-day.
