That's true but the wages are even higher.. in my area, the wage for
men is 150 rs (for work from 7am to 1pm) and for women is around 50rs
(7am to 1pm)..

The entire back bone of agriculture has been collapsed.. in my child
hood which i remember, (around 1990's), eventhough there were caste
differences and petty issues, there were perfect harmony b/w the land
owners and the labourers..
The employer just puts before the work to be done, and the employee
has the freedom to do that work in any way he wants.. so there is a
shared responsibility and shared goals..

But let's take the western style of work model.. the employer
predefines the process, and segregates in to different layers.. he
recruits employee just for doing that particular work in the
particular way.. and the employee has no freedom in his side..
And this is where it leads to exploitation..

I will share my personal incidents.. my father is a civil engineer,
and during concrete filling works on those days, the labourers will
stand in line at certain distance, and carry over the concrete mix to
the roof.. and my father would also help them at needy times.. in
one instance, i myself stood along with them, and participated in
their work..

Similarly in agricultural jobs, the entire family also works in the
field along with the labourers.. till some 10 years before, we had
active farming in our lands, and i myself used to have worked in
fields, along with labourers..

There was more than employer/employee relationships, and they both had
a shared understanding among them..

But the entire social scenario changed in the last 10 years, and we
started acquiring the characteristics of western society..

The trade unions, wage raise are all is possible in industries and
services sector.. becuase they can scale up their operations/business
within short span of time, if market permits..

But agriculture is one area, which is entirely different.. the
present government had collapsed the very back bone of agriculture..

Where will it leads to?

Today most of the agri labourers had migrated.. and the remaining
farmers cannot sustain even with machineries.. they have made their
sons study engineering and other professional courses and the next
generation of farmers also move out..

Now with barren lands, these will be transferred in bulk to big
corporates for corporate farming..
and those farmers and farm labourers who once were having a shared
land, will now work as labourers and officers in such corporate
companies, doing the same farm work, albeit without any freedom..

And when that situation arises, the rural auro of india, which is its
spiritual identity will be lost for ever..
