Dear friends, I am to share with you all that on 16th February, 2009, a protest demonstration was organized by Tribal Welfare Society to protest the killings of innocent tribals at SINGARAM and demanding a CBI inquiry. At this program, many civil society organizations, trade unions and social activists took active part with their teams. Victims from Singaram and nearby villages who have seen the naked dance in front of their eyes were also present with Mr. Himanshu Kumar of Vanvasi Chetna Ashram. They spoke their heart out by narrating the horror stories in which few of them have lost their near and dear ones and few villagers whose houses have been looted and were beaten up. Two youth who were lucky to escape from the certain jaws of death also narrated how they were taken from one village to another and then to the spot where nineteen were killed and five were lucky to run away from certain death. Smt. Sudha Bhardwaj and hundreds of members of Chhattisarh Mukti Morcha also took active part. Kamal Chand Dhansor of JSS, Shri Dhanesh of CMM and Shri Ghanshyam Dhruv conducted the program through out the day till 4.00 PM. A Memorandum was also prepared, addressed to Her Excellency, the President of India, through His Excellency; the Governor of Chhattisgarh was read out in Hindi translation by Shri Pravin Patel and was submitted to The Tehsildar, Raipur who came in person at the Dharna place.
